The Royal Pavilion was constructed as the seaside pleasure palace of King George IV. But it has seen many twists and turns throughout its long history. From a modest building in 1787 originally named Marine Pavilion in 1815 George commissioned John Nash to begin the transformation into the magnificent oriental palace that we see today.
We will wander around the palace unguided although you can hire an audio guide for £4. After our visit to the palace and gardens members will have free time to wander around the shops or a leisurely walk along the seafront or the pier. Fish and chips are always a good choice for lunch or you may prefer to take a picnic.
